Student Leadership Opportunities at Woodhey High School

Woodhey High School is a community in which students are fully integrated in student leadership roles that support the work of the school and the wider community, whilst at the same time developing their leadership skills and preparing them for the next stage of their education, training or employment.
Students will develop leadership skills through a variety of opportunities which impact positively within school on teaching, learning and well-being for both students and staff, as well contributing to our local community.

 

Meet your inspiring Senior School Ambassadors for 2026-2027: 

Lauren

Lauren is a dedicated Senior Ambassador who is passionate about helping every student succeed. Having experienced the pressures of exams herself, she is committed to ensuring all students have access to effective revision support, study strategies, and opportunities to build confidence in their learning.

Lauren is enthusiastic about creating a positive, inclusive, and enjoyable school environment. As an approachable and supportive leader, she values everyone's ideas and is determined to make sure student voices are heard. She is committed to working hard to turn those ideas into positive action and lasting improvements across the school.

Jolie

Jolie is proud to serve as a Senior Ambassador at Woodhey and is passionate about ensuring every student has access to a wide range of opportunities within a positive and supportive environment.

She is committed to helping all students feel safe, included, and happy during their time at school. In her role, Jolie hopes to introduce additional academic support sessions and careers events to help students feel more confident about exams and their future pathways. She believes strong support and guidance can help every student leave Woodhey feeling prepared for the next stage of their journey.

Laurie

Laurie is a Senior Ambassador who is dedicated to being a positive role model and helping make Woodhey an even better place for all students.

He is passionate about improving the everyday school experience by encouraging more activities, opportunities, and events that students can enjoy and look forward to. Laurie also wants to inspire younger students to get involved, try new experiences, and make the most of everything Woodhey has to offer.

Abia

Abia is a passionate Senior Ambassador who is committed to representing Woodhey to the highest standard while promoting the school's values of respect and excellence.

She is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive school community, ensuring that students feel listened to and valued. Abia aims to improve visibility and clarity around dietary information in the canteen, helping students make informed choices that meet their dietary requirements. Through practical improvements and a student-focused approach, she hopes to make school life more accessible, inclusive, and positive for everyone.

Eloise

Eloise became a Senior Ambassador because she wants every student to feel safe, supported, and valued within the school community. She is committed to representing Woodhey with pride and leading by example as a positive role model.

As a friendly and approachable ambassador, Eloise is passionate about listening to students' concerns and helping to improve their school experience. She hopes to promote wellbeing across the school, encourage greater participation in extracurricular activities, and improve the clarity of food and allergy information in the canteen. Her goal is to help create a school environment where every student feels confident, included, and supported.

Billy

Billy is a Senior Ambassador who is passionate about making a positive difference and helping students have a stronger voice within the school community.

He is committed to ensuring students have more opportunities to share their ideas and contribute to positive change. Billy is also keen to strengthen relationships between year groups, helping younger students feel supported and encouraged. Through organising events, competitions, clubs, and charity initiatives, he hopes to bring students together and make school life even more enjoyable for everyone.

 

Other Leadership Opportunities

Members of the Year 11 Ambassadors team apply through completing an application form and undertaking a formal interview process. Senior Ambassadors lead in the selection process for Year 11 Ambassadors. Successful applicants must demonstrate exemplary behaviour and model the school core values of respect and excellence to their peers.  Student leaders undergo leadership training, support at key events such as Open Evenings and have additional school duties.

School Council

The student council strengthens our community and promotes the fundamental British values of democracy, rule of law, liberty, respect and tolerance. Students are encouraged to make strategic decisions, communicate and collaborate effectively and use their voices to create societal change. School Council members will be mentored on their strategy and leadership skills and will be encouraged to document their leadership journeys through completing reflective journals as council representatives.

Global Learning Ambassadors


Global Learning Ambassadors are students who show a flair, apparent 'natural ability' and/or commitment to Global Learning subjects. These are Geography, History, Religious Education and Sociology. They are those who are likely to read around the subject and find opportunities to learn about elements of the subject independently. They also contribute by participating in activities such as open evenings, transition days, student voice, assemblies and interview panels.

Sports Leaders

These students will be selected by the Performance Faculty based on effort, participation and commitment to sport. Sports Leaders will assist members of the PE team through a range of ways including notifying their peers of sports fixtures, organising and officiating house competitions, leading warm ups and cool downs during lessons as well as the promotion of enrichment opportunities available to students within the PE department.


Charity Leaders


All students have opportunities to raise money for charity through a variety of activities. Students in all year groups have been responsible for organising events, which have raised thousands of pounds to support worthy causes.
Events have included bake-sales, costume competitions, non-uniform days and an annual Sponsored Walk. In December 2023, students in every year group organised and contributed to Woodhey High School's Charity and Community Week, raising money for several local charities. Students plan and promote the events throughout the school community, raising awareness as well as money for the charities they have selected and researched themselves.
