This week, our Woodhey community came together to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces. Through acts of remembrance, our students have shown one of #TeamWoodhey's core values, respect, in representing the school.

In the lead up to Remembrance Day, students supported the Royal British Legion by selling poppies both in school and at Ramsbottom Morrisons. We were grateful to have Gary from the Royal British Legion join us, guiding our students and helping them understand the importance of their contribution.

Our Remembrance assemblies, led by Mr Gibbons MBE, provided a powerful moment for reflection. Students listened intently as he shared stories and reminded us all of the significance of remembering those who gave everything for our freedom.

A particularly poignant moment was the Last Post, performed beautifully by Freddie in Year 9. We were also honoured to have Year 7 students Charlie and Arthur lay a wreath on behalf of Woodhey at the newly created memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives on HMS Holcombe — a reminder of the brave individuals connected to our local area.

On Remembrance Sunday, Summer and Ed, two of our senior ambassadors, proudly represented the school at the Ramsbottom Memorial Service. Their involvement highlights the strong values of leadership, respect, and community that we uphold at Woodhey.

Together, we remember and honour all who served and sacrificed.

Lest we forget.
